Social policy, politics, economics and philosophy are my main interests, especially how they relate too, and shape, health and social care provision. I’m a qualified social worker and have worked for 14 years in mental health, disability and older people services. I am currently Academic Lead for Social Work at Plymouth University and am conducting research on government and societal attitudes and responses to the mistreatment of older people in health and social care provision for my doctorate. I am the author of the National Capabilities Framework for Safeguarding Adults, the Safeguarding Adults Workbook for qualified professionals and lead developer of the SAFE tool, a free online resource for professionals to reflect on their practise in safeguarding adults – all can be accessed at http://www.ncpqsw.com/team/di-galpin/.
